Resolution of Inflammation: What Controls Its Onset?

Inflammation does not simply fade out on its own. Ending it is a separate, actively programmed process that clears inflammatory cells and releases the mediators that start tissue repair. Corticosteroids suppress inflammation wholesale rather than letting it resolve, and can block those repair signals along with it.
