Pegasus PRP Lab Service
No guesswork. Know exactly what you're injecting. The only equine PRP where every dose is measured, customized for the horse, and optimized for the veterinarian's treatment plan.

Not All PRP Is the Same
Platelet, red-cell, and white-cell counts — and pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokine concentrations — vary from the start and compound at every step.¹

One donor, eight physicians, eight kits, at a conference in Paris. The syringes came back red, straw-colored, transparent or cloudy. When the exercise was repeated and the PRP counted, the differences ran deeper than color: only two held a high platelet concentration, and some held fewer platelets than the starting blood.
Whole Blood Cell Counts

Whole blood, before processing. 404 preparations counted in the Pegasus lab, February 2025 to October 2026. One dot per preparation; dots are spread up and down only so they do not stack. Each strip runs from zero, scaled to its own range.
PRP Cell Counts
The process adds variables
Findings from equine blood processed on commercial systems.
How the blood is drawn, which PRP kit is used, and the person processing it introduce more variation.⁸
Sometimes there’s no PRP at all
True PRP means 5× the platelets of whole blood — many systems don’t reliably get there.⁹

PRP concentration, before dosing. 404 preparations counted in the Pegasus lab, February 2025 to October 2026; dots are spread up and down only so they do not stack. This graph dramatically understates the variation in the field: it shows only PRP made in the Pegasus lab with two kit types, all of it intentionally leukocyte-poor and red-cell-poor, whereas many other PRP kits intentionally concentrate leukocytes, and the collection methods used can also carry more red blood cells into the final preparation.
Pegasus Orthobiologics exists to take the guesswork out of PRP.
Standardize
Deliver a known platelet dose with consistently low red- and white-cell contamination — regardless of the donor horse’s biology.
Customize
Tailor each preparation to the individual horse and the specific joint, sheath, or structure being treated.
Advance
Generate verified cell-count data that feed ongoing clinical research and continuous refinement.
The Process
1. Whole Blood CBC
A CBC confirms the patient’s whole blood falls within the normal range before any processing begins.
2. Prepare
PRP is prepared with the Pegasus PRP Kit.
3. PRP CBC
A CBC on the finished PRP confirms the exact platelet concentration — proof of true PRP — and near-total red- and white-cell reduction.
4. Standardize
Because platelet concentration varies from preparation to preparation, the volume of PRP needed is calculated and then diluted with platelet-poor plasma (PPP) to deliver a known platelet dose and volume optimized for the specific joint, sheath, or structure being treated.

From Guessing Game to Precise, Repeatable Treatment
Reproducible preparations
The same preparation, case after case — not draw-to-draw chance.
Dose–response insight
A known dose lets you connect what you gave to how the horse responded.¹⁰
Confidence at the stall
Inject knowing exactly what is in the syringe.
