The Team Behind Pegasus
Pegasus unites experts in research, sports medicine, and equestrian sport to advance equine health.

Lauren Schnabel
DVM, PhD, DACVS, DACVSMR

Lauren Schnabel
Dr. Lauren Schnabel is board-certified by both the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR), where she serves as incoming Vice President. She is a Professor of Equine Orthopedic Surgery in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine and Principal Investigator of the Schnabel Lab.
At the Schnabel Lab she researches biologic therapies for musculoskeletal injury and disease, work that has advanced equine rehabilitation protocols. Her honors include the Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence and the Huffman Leadership Award. As Chief Research Officer, she leads the research program behind Pegasus's standardization work.

Philippe Benoit
DVM, MS, DACVSMR

Philippe Benoit
Dr. Philippe Benoit is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR). He founded Equine Clinic des Bréviaires, outside Paris, and today consults independently with veterinarians worldwide.
He is the former Team Veterinarian for Show Jumping for the French Equestrian Federation and a former Veterinary Committee member for the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI). He was the first equine practitioner to consistently standardize PRP, and the decade of research behind that work laid the scientific foundation for Pegasus.

Omar Maher
DVM, DACVS, DACVSMR

Omar Maher
Dr. Omar Maher is board-certified by both the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR). He is the founder of Atlantic Equine Services, a practice of eight veterinarians caring for horses across Florida, New York, and New Hampshire, and a surgeon at the New England Equine Medical and Surgical Center.
He has served as a veterinarian at Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) Jumping and Dressage competitions, including as staff surgeon for the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara. He lectures at veterinary conferences worldwide, including at the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) on the standardization of PRP — the question Pegasus was built around.

Timothy Ober
DVM

Timothy Ober
Dr. Tim Ober served as the U.S. Equestrian Team Veterinarian for Show Jumping for over 20 years. He has served on the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) Commission for Clean Sport and on the first FEI List Group in 2009, and is Charter President of the International Sport Horse Veterinarians Association. Today he is a partner at John R. Steele & Associates.
Alongside Pegasus co-founder Dr. Philippe Benoit, he began studying platelet dose more than a decade ago. The questions they were asking — about dose, standardization, and what precision actually requires — are the questions Pegasus exists to answer.

Katherine Strauss

Katherine Strauss
Katherine Strauss co-founded Pegasus Orthobiologics and sets the company's commercial strategy. A former U.S. Equestrian Team athlete who competed at the five-star FEI level, she runs operations, marketing, and partnerships. She led Pegasus's expansion from a regional lab into a distribution company that lets veterinarians around the world standardize their own PRP.
